In connection to the World Health Organization conclusion and advice and the decision by the Government of Mongolia, the bellow measures to be enforced from February 1 until March 2, 2020 in response to the novel coronavirus 2019-nCoV outbreak. Up to date, there are no confirmed cases of coronavirus in the country, however, Mongolia is considered to be at high risk.

- Entry of foreign nationals into Mongolia through all border crossings with China (air, railway, auto roads) will be restricted.

- Mongolian nationals will be allowed entry into Mongolia through road crossings of Bulgan-Takashiken in Khovd province, Zamyn-Uud-Erlian in Dornogovi province, Bayankhoshuu-Uvdug in Dornod province from February 1 until February 5, 2020, and through Buyant-Ukhaa (Chingis Khaan International Airport) airport and Zamyn-Uud railway port from February 6 until March 2, 2020.

- Foreign nationals are allowed to travel from Mongolia to China through Buyant-Ukhaa airport (Chingis Khaan International Airport) and Zamyn-Uud railway port.
-  Mongolian nationals are prohibited from travel to the People’s Republic of China until March 2, 2020.

- Restrictions will not be applied to truck drivers and their vehicles crossing the Mongolia-China border through Bulgan-Takashiken, Shiveekhuu-Sekhee, Gashuunsukhait-Gantsmod, Khangi-Mandal, Zamyn-Uud-Erlian, Bichigt-Zuunkhatavch, Bayankhoshuu-Uvdug border points.

- No restrictions imposed on export and imports of goods and products.

Certain restrictions will be applied to issuing visas to foreign nationals applying for visas at the Diplomatic Missions of Mongolia in the People’s Republic of China during the above mentioned period of time; nonetheless issuing visas at the Diplomatic Missions of Mongolia at other locations will continue as usual.

General information for Visa

Timetable:

Opening hours: from Monday to Friday between 09.00 am - 12.00 pm and 13.00 pm - 16.00 pm (except public holidays). The Embassy has a drop-in service.

The Visa Section will be closed on weekends and the following National holidays.

· 1st of January (New year)

· 1st, 2nd and 3rd day of the Moon Calendar new year (varies every year in January or February)

· 8th of March (International Woman’s Day )

· 1st of June (Children’s Day)

· 11th, 12th, 13th, 14th and 15th of July (Naadam festival)

· 29th of December (Independence Day)

· 1st day of the First Winter month by Lunar Calendar (Chinggis khaan’s day)

 

The following documents are required from the citizen of Sweden, EU/EEA countries and Switzerland, applying for a Tourist visa for 30 days or less:

1. A passport that is valid at least 6 months on the date of the traveler’s entry to Mongolia,


2. Completed visa application form with one passport size photo. Please download visa application form from here /after download it will be fillable/

 

3. Travel itinerary, hotel reservation.

 

4. If you are not a citizen of EU/EEA countries and Switzerland, the Embassy will require an invitation or reference letter of tourist company or counterpart in Mongolia.

Business visas for 30 day or less:

1. A passport that is valid at least 6 months on the date of the traveler’s entry to Mongolia,


2. Completed visa application form with one passport size photo, download visa application form from here /after download it will be fillable/


3. Reference letter from the organization or counterpart in Mongolia.  The letter can be:

•  An invitation of the receiving entity ( government, non-governmental organization, business entity) or an official request from the sending organization or company;

•  A personal invitation from a citizen of Mongolia, approved by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia, and applicant's written statement showing his/her financial credibility to cover his/her stay in Mongolia.


Transit visas for up to 10 days:

1. A passport that is valid at least 6 months on the date of the traveler’s entry to Mongolia,

2. Completed visa application form with one passport size photo,

4.  An onward ticket and visa for next destination are required.

Visa Fee:

Please note that we do not accept a cheque, credit/debit card or cash. You have to pay or make a bank transfer to below bank account. In case of paying or making bank transfer, we will require applicants to bring bank receipt or printed internet banking payment confirmation as a payment for a visa fee.

Visa fee should be paid into Nordea bank account: PlusGiro 52199-7.

Visa processing time:

Normal service: 3-5 working days,

Express service: On the same day in the afternoon or next morning, with extra charge /visa fee will be doubled/.

 

Receive and return procedures of the visa application:

1. The applicant must drop a visa application, passport and other related documents and pick a passport by him/herself or immediate family member or authorized person.

2. If the applicant is unable to come in person, the application can be sent by mail to the Embassy, together with self-addressed and pre-paid return envelope /with sufficient stamps for recommended post -the Embassy will send your passport back by only recommended post/.

 

Important notice

  • Visa will be valid 90 days from the date of issue. Duration of stay in Mongolia will be maximum 30 days /for entry visa/ and it starts from the date of entry to Mongolia.
  • For foreign national, who is going to apply for a visa with duration of stay more than 30 days, the Embassy will request for supporting letter from your company /organization/ or counterparts in Mongolia, approved by the Immigration Agency of Mongolia and authorization by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia.
  • A foreign national, who is planning to stay in Mongolia for more than 30 days, is required to get registered at the Immigration Agency of Mongolia within 7 days after the arrival.
